Martha Elaine Wash is an American singer, songwriter, actress and producer. Known for his distinctive and powerful voice, Wash first emerged as the half of Two Tons O 'Fun, who backed disco singer Sylvester, including his hit "You Make Me. Feel ". After securing their own record contracts, they released three consecutive commercially successful songs, all of which reached number two on the dance music chart. The duo was renamed The Weather Girls in 1982 after releasing their best-selling single "It's Raining Men," which brought them to the attention of mainstream pop music. The Weather Girls have released five albums and featured on numerous Sylvester albums. After its disbandment in 1988, Wash turned to house music as a leading artist with a number of hit songs. Her success on the Billboard dance charts has earned her the noble title The Queen of Clubland, with a total of fifteen number one hits on the charts to date.
